10-06-23 It was our first trip to Curaçao and we were very happy that we booked Jan Kok Lodges as our place to stay! The location is perfect – in the middle of the island (2 minutes drive to the Jan Kok Baai – where you can see flamingoes if you are lucky). Being so central means you can easily discover the whole of Curaçao. Nearby there are many beautiful bays/beaches and local restaurants (we liked Marfa’s @ Williwood). We stayed in the ‚Garden Apartment‘ – clean, tidy, nicely decorated, with a comfortable outside living area. And like all the other lodges it’s surrounded by lush green palm trees, plants and flowers. A hidden gem! Frederieke and Jeroen were very friendly and helpful hosts. They picked us up from the airport and even offered the opportunity of renting a car from them, which made our stay that much more comfortable and easy. We hope to come back to Curaçao again soon and would definitely stay here again, it’s a lovely place! Danielle

29-05-23 We are really thankful that we found „Jan Kok Lodge“ on Curacao, because it is an unique oasis in paradise. Our family of four travelled to Curacao in February 2023. Our kids Valentina & Konstantin (9 and 5 years) loved it so much, because of the wonderful garden full of iguanas. Every day they watched and counted how many of them they see. Additionally we got visits from the tropical birds every day. We stayed at the Iguana 3 apartment which is really close to the pool. Our kids where welcomed and the atmosphere is warmhearted. It is really relaxing to enjoy the silence and the breeze of the wind. Jan Kok Lodge is situated very good when you love to enjoy the beautiful nature of Curacao where not so many people are. That´s the reason why we have chosen this place. The beaches are really close, also the most wonderful beaches in the north of the island. The Lodge has everything you need: beautiful apartments with a big kitchen, a pool, a parking lot and most of all: silence and the feeling of pure freedom. For us Jan Kok Lodge is really something special – thank you so much for the great time Jeroen and Frederieke!Valentina, Konstantin, Bettina & Thomas

08-04-23 We have just completed a 4-days-stay at the lodge with our two young girls. The lodge is just fantastic and a great place to stay and explore the island with or without children. Frederieke and Jeroen take a lot of pride in keeping their tropical garden, which is just beautiful and full of birds. Besides that the lodge offers a lot of amenities like the fantastic outdoor kitchen with library the small but very relaxing pool area and spacious apartments. Everything in the apartment is extremely well maintained and of good quality. Each apartment has a well stocked kitchen, good ACs, stable internet connection and TV with online streaming. Three great beaches are close by (5-10 minutes by car). And don‘t miss the famous Williburger at Marfas place just down the road. planetbarb

23-03-23 We loved the well cared for piece of paradise at Jan Kok Lodges! Welcomed by Frederieke and shown our sweet ‚outdoor living studio‘. Such a lovely place, beautiful nature, refreshing swimming pool, and peace and quiet! Jan Kok Lodges is central and so close to the amazing beaches of Curacao, if you choose to venture out as we did at times, but we also enjoyed laying low there, sunbathing and swimming in the pool! 15-01-2023 Having seen all of the lovely pictures on the website and the Instagram account, I was unprepared for the lush and abundant vegetation that takes over the senses on arrival at Jan Kok Lodges. It is just what I was craving in a long grey Canadian winter. Everywhere you go, you’re surrounded by green palms and cactus and flowers in every color. I loved spending my days on the veranda and by the pool! Frederiejke and Jeroen have created quite a paradise.
We stayed in the Garden bungalow and found that the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and take lunches with us to the beach (JL lodges provides cooler and ice packs). The bed was very comfortable and the housekeeping did a great job keeping the towels and sheets fresh during our weeklong stay. Frederiejke and Jeroen were just a WhatsApp away whenever we needed anything. We loved being able to keep the windows open all day and were surprised at how cool it stayed. We used the ac at night only for sleeping and it worked well. We never got the hot water to work but we didn’t miss it.
The location and the rental car were perfect for visiting spots all over the island, especially the west side for all of the hikes and beaches. We drove into Willemstad for a culture day and for groceries at van den Tweel supermarket. In sum, it was the perfect setting for our first (and certainly not last) trip to Curacao and allowed us to have a fantastic experience on a very reasonable budget. 28-04-2022 Wow, ich könnte ewig über Jan Kok Lodges schwärmen, aber ich werde versuchen, bei der Sache zu bleiben und dies informativ zu halten!
Apartment (Outdoor-Wohnstudio) – Der Innenbereich enthält ein modernes Badezimmer (tolle Dusche, modernes Waschbecken/Toilette, viel Ablagefläche und Handtücher) und Schlafzimmer/Küche. Das Bett selbst war sehr bequem und die Küche in der Wohnung war mit einem vollwertigen Kühlschrank, Gasherd, Töpfen/Pfannen, Geschirr, Heißwasserbereiter, Kaffeemaschine, Toaster und Utensilien ausgestattet. Alles war blitzsauber und die Wohnung war wunderschön. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte hervorragend (obwohl wir sie nur nachts brauchten, weil die Brise alles angenehm hielt).
Der Außenbereich war allerdings unser Favorit! Wir haben die meiste Zeit in der Außenküche gekocht, die sich auf einer Veranda befindet und komplett ausgestattet ist. Es war so schön, draußen zu kochen und zu essen und dabei die Brise zu genießen (die Fotos werden dem nicht gerecht). Der Pool hat sowohl einen überdachten Bereich mit Bänken, um eine Pause von der Sonne zu bekommen, als auch viele bequeme gepolsterte Liegestühle. Es gibt auch zwei Außenduschen auf dem Grundstück, wenn Sie den Sand abspülen wollen, nachdem Sie vom Strand zurückkommen.
Die Lage – Frederieke gab uns wirklich detaillierte Anweisungen, um die Lodge zu finden (obwohl sie nicht allzu schwer zu finden ist, war dies dennoch hilfreich). Die Lage ist großartig, nur 15 Minuten von 3 verschiedenen Stränden (Daibooibai, Porto Marie und Cas Abao) und ein paar Restaurants entfernt. Es gibt kleine Lebensmittelläden etwa 5-10 Minuten entfernt, wenn Sie kochen wollen, wie wir.
Wenn Sie einen erholsamen Aufenthalt in einem tropischen Paradies suchen…., dann suchen Sie nicht weiter. Bleiben Sie hier, Sie werden es nicht bereuen. Elyse

01-01-2022 Curaçao ist nicht nur die beste Insel, die man besuchen kann! Die Jan Kok Lodges sind bei weitem besser als alles andere auf der Insel. Wir waren schon mehrere Male auf Curaçao und haben jedes Mal an verschiedenen Orten übernachtet! Wir bedauern es immer, nicht die ganze Zeit in Jan Kok geblieben zu sein. Zugegeben, man hat keinen Zugang zum Strand, aber die Orte, zu denen man von der Unterkunft aus Zugang zum Strand hat, sind überbevölkert und meist künstliche Strände! Jan Kok ist zentral gelegen, Sie können zu den schönsten natürlichen Stränden auf der Insel innerhalb von 5-30 Minuten Fahrt, je nach Strand sein! 20 Minuten in die Innenstadt! 15 Minuten zu einem wunderbaren Supermarkt! 30 Minuten zum Wandern! Das Grundstück hat die schönste Landschaftsgestaltung, die Sie je gesehen haben! Der Pool ist entspannend! Der Wind ist magisch! Sie haben Outdoor-Küchen, um die Natur beim Kochen zu genießen! Gut bestückte Bibliothek im Freien! Schöne und komfortable Wohnzimmer im Freien! Strandhandtücher! Duschen im Freien zum Genießen! Bequeme Betten! Wifi! Bluetooth-Lautsprecher! Gated Bereich für Ihre Autos! Was kann ich noch über diesen Ort sagen? Oh ja, die Besitzer behandeln Sie wie Familie! Super hilfsbereit, nett, charmant und lustig! Sie werden buchstäblich denken, dass Sie auf dem Grundstück eines Familienmitglieds wohnen! Meine einzige Beschwerde wäre, dass ich nicht hier wohne! 01-09-2021 jan kok lodges hat meine erwartungen bei weitem übertroffen. so eine tolle gastfreundschaft und so viele durchdachte Details überall – tupperware, eisschrank für den strand usw. ich habe in einem studio gewohnt und es hatte eine tolle küche (einschließlich mikrowelle!) und eine schöne terrasse. die küche im außenbereich war komplett ausgestattet – ich habe die meisten meiner mahlzeiten dort gekocht und die french press benutzt, um jeden morgen kaffee zu machen.

das grundstück selbst ist wunderschön – so grün und üppig. es ist auch in einer tollen lage, in der nähe der flamingos bei den salt flats und eine schnelle fahrt zu den westpunt stränden und dem christoffel mountain. ich habe meinen aufenthalt hier wirklich genossen und wünschte, ich hätte länger bleiben können! 18-03-2021 Die tropische Umgebung; der Garten ist in jedem Detail so schön angelegt, dass er Liebe ausstrahlt und die liebevollen Details wie ein Grill vor jeder Lodge und die schöne Aussicht von jeder der Terrassen, die Art und Weise, wie Frederique und Jeroen dafür sorgen, dass man sich wie zu Hause fühlt; nichts ist ihnen zu viel. 12-02-2021 We had a lovely stay at the lodges! It’s such a quiet and peaceful place with a beautiful view on the salt ponds. The nature gives you a feeling that you’re in a jungle! We loved the pool area and the spacious shared outdoor kitchen space. The cats and, especially, dogs were very cute! Our studio was cozy and modern – we loved the interior, and you can really see the attention to detail! It was nice to have air conditioning (you pay extra for it but it’s not much if you use it only by night), European plugs, all the cooking appliances and plenty of towels. The location of the lodges is perfect – between east and west, you get to see flamingos nearby, there are some beaches 5 minutes away (by car), and you can get some local food at a nearby cafe across Williwood sign, where you can get kabritu burger and pastechi. Frederieke was very hospitable and responsive, she gave us recommendations, helped us make a restaurant reservations, and it was very helpful and easy to rent a car (from them). Thank you! 15-01-2021 We recently spent three weeks at JKL while exploring the island of Curacao. While not a five star resort , it is a comfortable, extremely well located, lushly landscaped budget accommodation. We stayed in both the cozy Outdoor Living Studio, and the spacious Bungalow with its massive front porch. It is very easy to relax at JKL in the midst of palm trees, cacti and flowering bushes, and easy to get to nearby beaches and parks. The owners/hosts , Frederieke and Jeroen, are on site, helpful and available to assist and address any needs that arise regarding lodging or enjoyment of the island. Highly recommend Rob C

15-08-2020 We spent 20 nights at the Lodge and it was like home! The Lodge is a Garden of flowers and birds, and every day we returned and the Gate to the Lodge opened it was a feeling of Welcome Home!
Frederieke and Jerome are always- and I mean always!- reachable and welcoming, always with a smile in their faces and always busy to keep everything cosy and nice! The Lodge is perfectly situated! During our stay we visited all the different beaches- the nicest are not more than a 15 min drive away! But be sure that you never will drive more than about 30 minutes no matter what might be your favourite place to go- and Curaçao really has overwhelming beaches! We never saw so
many different kind of blue!!!!
And- please don’t hesitate to visit this island right now! Yes, it is difficult travelling during corona times BUT once you are here you will forget everything about it and just relax! Coming now to Curaçao gives you the chance to explore the island as you possibly never will again: the beaches are not crowded- you have a lot of space and we were happy every day to be right here!

29-03-2019 Loved this place! The property a gorgeous sprawling hilltop garden. All lodges are very private separated by lots of plants and spread over the property. This was a great place to stay on the north end of the island. 15-20 min drive to all the best beaches. We checked out a bunch and ended up at Little Knip for two days, also enjoyed Playa Porto Marie. Plenty of beaches for different tastes. Everything was as described, hosts were fast to respond to questions. Staff was top notch, very cool guys. Highly recommend! Julia Warnock

13-01-2019 Meine Familie (ich, meine Frau und zwei Kinder im Alter von 12 und 14 Jahren) war Ende Dezember 2018 für neun Tage hier. Unsere Buchung wurde ursprünglich über Expedia gemacht. Als wir jedoch ein paar Nächte hinzufügen mussten, um früher anzureisen, war Expedia so gut wie nutzlos, was eine einfache Änderung hätte sein sollen. Die wunderbare Besitzerin, Frederieke, war so nett und hilfsbereit, dass wir die Änderung schließlich einfach selbst vorgenommen haben.

Ich habe über Frederieke auch einen Mietwagen organisiert, der bei unserer Ankunft in der Lodge auf uns wartete. Frederieke kümmerte sich auch um den Flughafentransfer für uns bei der Ankunft.

Die Lodge liegt etwa 15 Minuten vom Flughafen entfernt. Sie ist nicht gut ausgeschildert, aber mit Google Maps konnte man sie finden. Sie liegt abseits einer Nebenstraße auf einem Hügel zwischen einigen Einfamilienhäusern. Bitte beachten Sie, dass man NIRGENDWAS zu Fuß erreichen kann. Sie brauchen wirklich ein Mietauto. Google Maps fand jeden Ort, nach dem wir suchten, ohne jedes Problem. Ein paar Kreisverkehre waren allerdings nicht in der Datenbank, und gelegentlich war eine Linksabbiegung in Wirklichkeit die dritte Ausfahrt eines Kreisverkehrs (keine große Sache).

Die Einheiten sind im Stil eines Reihenhauses angeordnet, aber mit ausreichend Privatsphäre für jede Einheit. Durch die Betonwände waren keine Geräusche aus anderen Wohnungen zu hören. Wir wohnten in dem Apartment mit zwei Schlafzimmern und Blick auf Iguana. In jedem Schlafzimmer gab es eine Klimaanlage (die gut funktionierte). Es gab einen großen Ventilator für den Küchen-/Sitzbereich. Eine große Terrasse mit Esstisch befand sich außerhalb der Terrassenschiebetüren (mit Vorhängeschloss zur Sicherheit). Es war sehr luftig und angenehm, draußen zu sitzen, und wir haben alle unsere Mahlzeiten draußen gegessen.

Unter dem Waschbecken befand sich ein Tresor zur Aufbewahrung von Wertgegenständen. Für die Klimaanlage musste man einen Aufpreis zahlen, der sich für unseren Aufenthalt auf insgesamt 25 Dollar für beide Geräte belief (die wir nur zum Schlafen nutzten).

Wifi war AUSGEZEICHNET! Es gab drei verschiedene Zugangspunkte, die ich sehen konnte, dass Sie zugreifen konnte. Ich habe manchmal den Zugangspunkt gewechselt, je nachdem, welcher das stärkste Signal hatte. Videostreaming (Facetime, Netflix, Prime) war kein Problem. Auch Facebook und Instagram waren kein Problem :)

Es gab einen schönen Pool (stark gechlort) mit mehreren bequemen gepolsterten Liegestühlen um ihn herum. Ein wenig Schatten spendeten die Palmen. Ein überdachter Bereich mit Liegen befand sich ebenfalls am Pool. Der Pool und der Bereich waren für das nächtliche Schwimmen beleuchtet.

Eine einzelne Rolle Toilettenpapier und eine kleine Flasche Spülmittel waren vorhanden, aber keine Papiertücher oder Handseife. Diese Dinge müssen Sie selbst kaufen – zusätzlich zu den Lebensmitteln, die Sie benötigen. Die Küche war gut mit Utensilien und Geschirr ausgestattet. Ein Toaster, eine Panini-Presse und ein elektrischer Wasserkocher waren ebenfalls vorhanden.

Im Umkreis von 10 Autominuten gibt es mehrere kleine Supermärkte (einen in Tera Cora) und zwei oder drei weitere am Weg Naar Westpunt (der Hauptstraße). Ein großer Supermarkt im nordamerikanischen Stil (Centrum) war etwa 15-20 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt.

Die nächstgelegene Tankstelle war etwa 10 Minuten entfernt in Tera Cora. Hinweis: Sie bezahlen das Benzin zuerst an der Tankstelle, tanken das Auto auf und holen sich dann das Geld.

Frederieke und ihre Familie leben auf dem Gelände und war persönlich oder per SMS erreichbar. Sie war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und erlaubte uns sogar, unser Gepäck in ihrem Büro zu lagern, nachdem wir ausgecheckt hatten, aber bevor wir am späten Nachmittag abreisten.

Als Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Insel fuhren wir von einem Ende zum anderen. Die Straußenfarm im Osten der Insel war etwa 40 Minuten entfernt. Im Westen waren der Cristoffel Park und Shete Boka im Westen etwa 25 Minuten entfernt.

Strände: Cas Abao, Playa Porta Marie und Coraal/Karakter (atemberaubende Poolanlage mit Strandzugang und Plattform zum Springen ins Meer)

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in der Lodge und sie war ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um die ganze Insel zu erkunden. Frederieke hätte nicht freundlicher und hilfsbereiter sein können – ein wirklich wunderbarer Gastgeber. dms666

15-12-2018 Wir haben die Hütte genossen. Es war toll, schwimmen gehen zu können. Wir haben es geliebt, in unserer Küche zu kochen! Die Umgebung ist wunderschön! Viele hilfreiche Tipps, wo man hingehen kann. Sie halfen bei der Organisation eines Mietwagens und des Transports zum Flughafen. Seien Sie sich bewusst, dass dies auf dem Land ist – Hunde und Hähne sind ein häufiges Geräusch in der Nacht. Michelle

20-12-2018 I only wish I would have booked my entire trip at Jan Kok Lodges. First time to the island and JKL was our first stop of 3 on our 13-day journey. By far it was the best. It is centrally located and by the best beaches of the island. My husband and I enjoyed having coffee on the beautiful garden terrace in the morning, exploring the island all day and then having a nice quite zen place to decompress from our adventures. The owners are very friendly and helped make suggestions to make the island feel like our home. However, they were not so overly involved so that you felt like they were on vacation with you. If you are looking for a nice island feel and want to avoid staying in a tourist trap Jam Kok Lodges is for you. I can not wait to visit again BenH

20-06-2018 Frederieke’s home is absolutely stunning. It is centrally located on the island, and truly beautiful. There is a large outdoor kitchen for communal use and a pool on the grounds. We stayed in the outdoor living studio, which also had a kitchen inside of it and a great porch to drink morning coffee and read on. In addition, Frederieke has compiled a very detailed list of everything to do on the island in a book that is located in the studio. We relied on it every day and it had excellent suggestions. During our time in Curacao, although the lodge is a bit off the beaten path, we felt very safe in our studio. We will definitely be back! Madison

05-06-2017 Stayed at Jan Kok Lodges, Sint Willibrordus. Loved the accommodations. Very friendly atmosphere. Frederique, and Jeroen, are the perfect hosts. The Lodge is centrally located making it super easy to get to your favorite activity. Everything was arranged before we got there; we were picked up at the airport and our rental car was at the Lodge waiting for us. Would highly recommend this as the perfect place to explore the great island of Curacao. Willem K

05-01-2017 We had booked this accomodation many months ago, based on the reviews on TripAdvisor. We had been at Curacao many times before, but never so „remote“ from where the action is. It turned out to be a very good decision. The complex was very well maintained, lots of trees and plants and all very clean. Our appartment (Flamingo View) is scheduled to be renovated (kitchen, shower), but even like it is now, it is a very nice place. The view is so nice, quiet (except when there is a wedding party at the neighbours place) en also well maintained. We had some small issues during our (16 night) stay, but they were handeled by the owners on the spot. Every day the owners passed by to ask if all was ok. With the windows closed, the noise (animals) from outside was very acceptable. Also, the airconditioning that we used during the night in the bedroom was very quiet. Extra charge for the AC was NAF 140 for 16 nights.

A rental car is a must when you stay at Jan Kok (and also for most other locations a Curacao). The owers rent out cars or you can rent a car at the airport.

We have already booked our next stay and can’t wait to return.
