A trip to Klein Curacao is actually a must when you’re in Curacao.
You can reach the small, deserted paradise island by boat in about two hours. From Caracas Bay, you sail to the eastern tip of Curacao and then out into the open sea.
The journey to Klein Curacao is often a bit rougher than the return trip, so it’s wise not to eat too much before departure. You’ll have breakfast on the island, where you’ll be treated to delicious sandwiches and fresh fruit upon arrival. Along the way, you might spot flying fish, and with a bit of luck, even dolphins!
Upon arriving at Klein Curacao, turtles often swim alongside the boat—a beautiful sight! And then the island itself… the sand is whiter than white, and the water is bluer than you’ve ever seen. The long beach invites you for a lovely walk, where you can find colorful shells and stones. Don’t forget to look out for the many hermit crabs—there are hundreds of them!
During the day, there’s plenty of time to snorkel, dive, or just enjoy a relaxing swim in the clear blue waters. And of course, you’ll want to visit the old, iconic pink lighthouse and take a walk to the shipwreck that has been stranded on the other side of the island for many years.
A fresh lunch is served early in the afternoon. And with no loud music, shops, or restaurants to distract you, Klein Curacao is the perfect place to unwind, read a book, or simply enjoy the stunning surroundings.
Around four o’clock, the boat departs back to Curacao. As you watch the sunset, you’ll know for sure that you’ve had an unforgettable day!
